Davy Crockett for President? It’s no tall tale, friends. It almost happened!
Congressman Davy tells the story of American frontiersman Davy Crockett's political rise & fall in the 1830s in 22 new country and folk songs. And the musical also has important things to say about our country right now: a polarized and partisan landscape filled with bad electoral losers and naked corruption.
A Who’s Who of prominent Americana and rock luminaries are featured: Robbie Fulks sings songs by Davy Crockett, while Kelly Hogan lends her voice to Anne Royall. Members of Mekons (Jon Langford and Sally Timms), The Flat Five (Nora O’Connor), Four Lost Souls (Bethany Thomas) and Meat Purveyors (Jo Walston) turn up as well, with Chicago's own Gerald Dowd and Kent Rose completing the lineup.
